Grading
This class is for 1 marking period (or either the 1st or 2nd part of your block). Your grade will be determined by dividing the total points for the marking period by the total points you have earned. If you do not give a speech you will automatically be given a “0”. Unexcused absences on the days of a scheduled speech will result in points taken off. Points will be earned through a combination of the following:
1. Speeches: You will be graded on such things as time requirements, language (both verbal and non-verbal), organization, use of visual aides and content.
2. Audience Participation: You will be graded on how you treat your classmates while they are giving their speeches.
3. Peer Evaluations and Self Evaluations: You will evaluate each speech you give and the speeches of others.
4. Your Career Speech ! If you do not pass this speech you WILL fail the class.
